Tiphanie Kim Mall’s artistic practice explores the intersection of personal experience and social dynamics, with a focus on the process of observation. Her works question the impact of documentation on the subject and the blurring of boundaries between the private and the public. For the Kunstverein, the artist has contributed a series of framed photographs of doors, a staircase, and a mirror in a baroque frame. At first glance, the images appear to be mere observations of fact, but through the use of subtle perspectives and reflections, they suggest perceptions rather than tangible objects. The staircase and the mirror shot seem to grant access to other levels, but a glimpse into the hidden remains denied, creating a tense uncertainty.
