Lichtparcours 2024
Kick-off exhibition 2024
In 2024, the city of Braunschweig will again assemble contemporary light art positions in the urban space as part of the Lichtparcours Braunschweig. The model designs for the Lichtparcours 2024 will be presented from June 01 to June 11, 2023 in the exhibition Lichtparcours, at the Kunstverein Braunschweig. Based on sketches, models, film studies and related works, the project plans will be presented and the artistic work process will be revealed. The thematic focus of the sixth edition is the examination of the ambivalence of light itself, with its manifold visible and invisible effects on humans and the environment, as well as the consequences of the use of its artificial form in all its diversity. The works created along the Okerumflut take a look behind the light to stimulate the closing of the gap between technological development and a more responsible use of it. They draw attention in public space to the barely noticed or unknown, offer new perceptions and assessments of the old familiar, show surprising possibilities of approach and push debate and innovation in an inspiring way.
