Meisterschüler_innen der HBK Braunschweig
I'm Not Always Where My Body Is
Meisterschüler 2020The Kunstverein Braunschweig is delighted to present newly produced works by this year’s Meisterschüler_innen of the Hochschule für Bildende Künste (HBK) Braunschweig.
Eighteen artists are exhibiting in a comprehensive presentation that spreads across every room of the villa, the garden, and the courtyard. Under the motto I’m Not Always Where My Body Is, the graduates explore concepts of (bodily) presence and its opposite in their works. At a time when being physically present is put into question, they have devoted themselves to a phenomenon that has been noticeable in many forms for quite some time as a result of digitalization as well as this year’s pandemic. We are exposed to the constant change between offline and online experience. Both our everyday experiences and our perception of art repeatedly confront us with the fact that we are not only here, but also there at the same time.
